  • Oceanic Whitetip Sharks are scavengers.
  • They are known for hunting alone.
  • These sharks can be found in open oceans or shallow water.
  • They weigh approx. 370 lbs
  • Oceanic Whitetip Sharks prefer warmer water rather than cold water.
  • They have a distinctive pattern of blotchy white markings on the tips of their fins.
  • Average lifespan is aroun 19 years.

Not So Lonely:

Oceanic Whitetip Sharks are typically known for being lone hunters but they have fish travel with them from time to time–they are called pilot fish.

Pilot fish can be very territorial with the shark they swim with. They will eat scraps from the sharks meal.
